Why North Carolina?

Growing up a Yankee (a damn yanke, to be precise - explained below), spending my formative years in Southeastern NY and south western Connecticut, then to college in Northern Virginia (Fairfax - GMU - go Mason!) and a few years living just outside Washington, D.C., I'm often asked why I relocated to and settled in North Carolina instead of returning "home" to the north east.

Yankee - a northerner, or a northerner visiting a southern state. (usually from the northeast, you never hear pf someone form Oregon or North Dakota referred to as a "yankee")
Damn Yankee - a northerner who comes to a southern state... and stays.

Now if you'll excuse this damn yankee, it's time to go tailgate for the Buffalo/Carolina hockey game this fine Sunday afternoon (Olympic send-off day). I'd like to see them tailgate in Boston today! Brother-in-law will be wearing his Buffalo gear, this could turn ugly. ;-)
